The Saint: It’s a glaring design failure | Lithgow Mercury

MOTORISTS in Australia and much of civilisation have created something of a monster with their fascination for high riding SUVs, 4WDs and obscenely bloated utes. And it’s all in one little design failure – glaring headlights. With the height of the lights the old dimming rules seem to have gone by the wayside and the constant glare is a danger to anyone unlucky enough to be heading their way. Manufacturers were allowed to get away with this obvious design problem and it’s probably too late to put the genii back in the bottle. Still, some solution has to be found in the interests of road safety – and road rage. And there’s no escape; the glare is as bad in the rear vision mirror as it is in approaching traffic.
